Paper Sludge
UK paper sludge output is now well over 1,000,000 tonnes annually with much of it now being recycled to land. At Site Serv we alone recycle around 150,000 tonnes every year and have grown into one of the main contractors carrying out this type of work in the UK.
What is paper sludge?
- Paper sludge is a by-product of the papermaking industry. It is odourless and requires no treatment before spreading.
- Paper sludge acts as a liming agent and adds to organic matter levels in the soil. It also releases nitrogen and contains valuable trace elements.
- Paper sludge is useful for the treatment of both heavy clay and light sandy soils, creating a more manageable and productive growing medium.
